New Year: New Plan for 2021.
It’s pretty tough welcoming the start of 2021 without the usual New Year celebrations and cheer. It’s not the New Year marker any of us had in mind, but we want to start by wishing you the best for what’s to come.
For your teenager, this year signifies the time that they will get their results: the next stepping stone will fall into place, and your teen will move forward in their journey. Whilst it seems 2020 showed us that sometimes we just can’t ‘plan ahead,’ academic endeavors can still be mapped out and worked towards.
In Scotland, we know that exams now won’t be taking place for National 5, Higher or Advanced Higher candidates. Instead, students will acquire their results from teacher assessment and judgement. Thus, your teenager must be ‘on point’ with their studies and subject knowledge throughout the year… and your teen is actually almost halfway through! Because of this, it’s a really good idea to ensure your child has access to high-quality digital learning. One thing many parents and guardians have realized in recent months is that having access to online learning is imperative. At My Digital Lesson, we are very experienced in offering families excellent online courses – and our expertise is in providing superb external content for your child. As SQA specialists, we uniquely cater for Scottish students and equip them with the knowledge and confidence that they need to do well.
What’s so great about planning to use an online platform, such as ourselves, is that your teenager has the perfect opportunity to blend their learning: they receive teacher input from our set of experts online, as well as input from their own school. When thinking about planning for the year ahead, take into consideration that it is going to be another year where your child will use both classroom and online experiences.
For students taking SQA Highers, we are also offering live intensive digital classes in January and February. These sessions are run by experienced school teachers and focus on one unit of the Higher courses per week. Covering Maths, English, Biology Chemistry and Physics.
We also know now that prelims are on hold, too- for most schools. Typically, prelims offer a gage on where your child is working at, and what prep they need to do. With these not taking place in school right now, it’s imperative your teenager engages with their remote learning and delivers the work to their teachers. Even remotely, your child’s teachers will need to start building a picture of grades.
In the longer term, we hope that your child is soon filled with confidence that they can still be super successful this year- and that their career paths and hopes will remain open to them. It’s been a hard time, but planning ahead is a positive way to get your teenager looking forward!
