How Can I Juggle My Teen’s Remote Learning whilst Working?

It’s all good and well your teenager being asked to work from home, but for some families in Scotland (and elsewhere) it might not be that simple. Whether it is access to technology, deciding how to share the household laptop, or trying to juggle your own work commitments, there are many factors that families are juggling at this time.

That’s why you need flexibility. It’s important not to fret right now- there’s enough to worry about! As an educational platform with great experience in delivering online education, many people are turning to us right now. Whilst some schools are (quite rightly) offering a whole range of ways to keep your child engaged and learning from home, we recognize that sometimes you want to take things into your own hands. At My Digital Lesson, our courses are accessible from your teenager’s device, so they can instantly get to work when they choose; when you can support them, or when you’re able to share the laptop! With us, your teenager will follow the same course content that they would do whilst in school. We’re great as an additional study support alongside school work, of course, too.

For many parents and careers, the challenge is trying to help your teen get on track, whilst working yourself (whether you’re a key worker or working from home.)Maybe it’s good to set up a temporary routine at home, whereby you and your teenager devise ‘school times’ that suit you? Also, don’t forget that your teenager is used to working independently at school. Set your teenager up with what they need to crack on by themselves where possible. What’s great about mydigitallessonis that we specialize in SQA courses for Scottish students– and we have catered to this specification for many years. With a set of highly experienced teachers delivering our pre-recorded videos (narrated,) you can be certain that your teen will be receiving fantastic educational input in no time!

With this in mind, you can appreciate that the solution is to ensure your child has access to high-quality learning provision that is accessible at any time of day. You also don’t want your teenager to be overloaded when they do sit down to plough through the work! By joining My Digital Lesson, you’ll find that our material is chunked into manageable, short lessons so your teenager can work to their best.

We know that we’re all doing our best right now. We must remember that. Your teenager might need reminding of that, too, as it can be quite a daunting time for them. When they open up their devices, it might well be that they are flooded with notifications pinging off with different bits of work and due dates from school. No school is trying to overload your child: they want to ensure their provision is robust and helpful.

At a time when things some tough, juggling remote learning needn’t turn into a stressful thing. There’s plenty of support and resources available- ourselves included- and we invite you to take a look at what we can offer right now. Good luck!
