Has Remote Learning Changed Your View?

Remote learning has proved that it is possible for educators to teach across different disciplines and platforms. Whilst remote learning isn’t intended to replace face-to-face experience, we do know that digital tools are part of a wide, creative scope in the future of education. It’s also given many flexible dynamics- and with flexibility comes elements of freedom and independence in how your teenager goes about their learning.

Distance provision has also shown how teachers and educators are at the core of helping students to navigate to their next stage in life. Adapting to online classrooms, and creating ways for your child to still have a good experience of education, has been one of the forefronts during this pandemic.

As an experienced and expert-level online provider, we at My Digital Lesson already know the great support and impact we are having on many students’ lives. Whilst many families have been embracing what we can offer, perhaps you are only just finding that remote learning has changed your view of approaching education digitally?

Prior to lockdown, many schools were braced for elements of blended learning programmes, which is used to bring classroom teaching and the digital world together. Blended learning is one of the latest educational development to make an impact in classrooms today. This type of learning embraces the many different interactions we can offer learners, with digital technology advancing the classroom environment in school.

As a parent or guardian yourself, perhaps you’ve found yourself wondering if parts of digital education are here to stay, now? And you’d be right in thinking that. Even though the situation of the pandemic and school closures has forced the hand of digital education much more so, it’s inevitable that schools were beginning to employ more digital schooling in their outputs. Has your teenager- in the past- been asked to complete online homework? Have they signed up to revision podcasts or website- encouraged by school?

In fact, some teenagers are finding remote learning a really good fit for them. Some are embracing how untethered online education is, or are finally feeling at peace doing their schoolwork at home: there’s no social anxiety that sometimes school can bring. Students can make schedules that work for them, and teenagers can work at their own pace- in their own time. This is one great advantage of joining our courses at My Digital Lesson. Our SQA content is chunked into consumable sessions, keeping track of your teenager’s progress as they go, so they can pick up and leave as it suits them. Are you finding that it is working well for your teenager to control their own pace?

Lastly, remote learning doesn’t always have to be about working alone or independently. Many expert educators, such as ourselves, know how vital it is for learners to have interaction with others- and how that enhances learning. Therefore, during February half term we are running live sessions of small groups learning online together. In addition to this, we have weekend classes for Higher candidates who meet online and are guided by a subject teacher.

Check out everything we have to offer you and your teenager today: we’re already leading the way with excellent online education.
