The 12 Study Tips of Christmas

Holidays are coming… and we already know it’ll look different for many families this year. Whilst you might be busy preparing plans for the big day, your teen might be busy preparing to crack on with their studies. Christmas holidays are often indicative of coursework deadlines, assessment results, and time to do some more study- so here’s our 12 study tips (of Christmas!) to help get your teen underway:

1. Don’t put the work off. It can be really nice to get some work out the way on the first day of the holidays- then have a break for a few days whilst the festivities play out. It’s nice to get something ‘done’ and accomplished at the start of the holidays.

2. Plan specific times for study. Create a sensible timetable that can be achieved in the time your teen’s got over the holidays.

3. Have your teen bask in some rest and enjoy the festive period. More than any year, 2020 is certainly one for a recuperating over Christmas!

4. Join us at My Digital Lesson! We are the perfect solution for any teenager taking Scottish courses, as we provide all the content they need to know in an instantly accessible way.

5. Find somewhere quiet for your teen to work. A Christmas film or two is a must- but not at the same time as trying to study!

6. Utilize revision videos. For SQA students following National 5 and Higher courses, you’ll find our video lessons are specifically aimed at your teenager. Our videos are delivered by real teachers, too!

7. Do quizzes. They’re such a great way of checking knowledge- that’s also why we embed them in our online courses. (Christmas is the time of year for a quiz, after all!)

8. Write things down. Taking notes, and taking the time to formulate written responses, helps the learning to stick in your teenager’s brain.

9. Provide encouragement: it’s definitely what your teen needs to help them study over the Christmas break.

10. Break study time down into manageable chunks. Our online courses are already divided up into manageable bursts, so it’s another great reason to sign up.

11. Find a friend. Find a teacher. Find support. Your teen is likely to find their studies easier if they can check in with someone: checking in with a teacher before the holidays might help give your teen direction and a boost. Of course, we’re on hand, too!

12. Finally, have treats at the ready! Surely Christmas is time to find a sweet reward…Why not suggest your teenager incentivize their study time?

By getting stuck into our study tips and joining us at My Digital Lesson, we have no doubt that your child will have a successful Christmas break (and don’t forget to factor that nice long nap on the sofa, too!)
