Digital Ed Tech Tips for your Teen

Perhaps it seems like your teen knows it all when it comes to digital technology. Yet, since they are underway with remote learning and utilizing digital classrooms, have they had time to really get their heads around some decent digital education tips? Here’s some things we think might help your teen:

Can you download it as an app?

Your teenager has probably realized by now that there’s often a few technical hiccups along the way. Whatever online platform their school is using, check whether it’s downloadable as an app- some programmes run more swiftly and easily this way.

Also, when you’re looking at apps, have a search and look for a few that come highly recommended. There’s some really helpful tools out there to get your teenager underway. Many teachers are getting to grips with these apps, too, and have signed their students up to specific quizzing or podcast apps we also have our own app launching in a few weeks.

Has your teen joined an online course to enhance and extend their learning?

Whilst your teen is following what the school is sending through, it might be proving more difficult for teachers to always differentiate work right now- or even check if your teenager is finished! Even in live lessons, your teenager might not want to have their video or microphone on, so it can be tricky for teachers to gage where their students are at – the way they would in class.

You might know that your teenager could do with some extension work, or perhaps they need to enhance what they’re doing because they’re struggling to keep up with the faster pace of online learning? In each scenario, turning to online provision- such as My Digital Lesson– is the ideal solution. With pre-recorded online lessons, your teenager has access at their fingertips! We provide full SQA content, so you can be sure that your Scottish teenager will have everything they need to succeed in their subjects.

Phone Powers

And don’t forget, the great thing about digital tech is that it gives your teenager more powers and freedoms! Your teen can save, pause, rewind, annotate – or even screen grab videos, images and text. Also, many phones have the ability to scan documents, set reminders or join online lessons. Here at My Digital Lesson, we are currently offering extra sessions for Higher students- and this is something students can do from their comfort of their own devices! Devices give them the means to work with peers, as well as educational experts like ourselves, with our wealth of collective experience.

As a final thought, teenagers often get a lot of ‘stick’ for the amount of time they spend on their phones. However, right now we have the chance to embrace everything they are able to achieve through these devices: many students are currently receiving an education through them, after all!
